Each year, Life Care Center of Sparta, Tennessee, sponsors the very popular Senior Day at the White County Fair, and this year was no exception.
On Aug. 30, 2019, seniors from across the Upper Cumberland region attended, breaking a record with more than 556 in attendance.
The day kicked off on a high note with the Ms. Senior White County Fair pageant, followed by the first-ever Mr. Senior White County Fair pageant as requested by the seniors! Several seniors sang and danced in the talent competition.
Valerie Jones, regional director of business development, helped judged the contests, along with another fair board member, Renee Flatt.
Members of Life Care Center of Sparta’s maintenance department, as well as a representative from Amedysis Home Health, entertained the crowd with a performance of the Soggy Bottom Boys, a reenactment of a scene from the movie “O Brother, Where Art Thou.”
The dietary team from the facility prepared a barbecue lunch for the seniors, which the department management team served as attendees enjoyed a performance by the Tennessee Jewels, a group of senior pageant queens.
After lunch, the final event for the day was White County’s largest bingo game.
“I had a fantastic time, and the food was delicious,” said Gladys Whitaker, one of the attendees. “It was a great day to spend time with my friends and make new ones too!”
