Residents Jo Ada Barlow, left, and Elfie Hill with some of the Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes

On Nov. 4, 2019, residents, associates and family members at Life Care Center of Sparta, Tennessee, took some time to prepare gifts for children.

Each year, the facility participates in Operation Christmas Child, a ministry of Samaritan’s Purse that delivers gift-filled shoeboxes to children in need around the world who wouldn’t otherwise receive a Christmas gift.

The facility incorporated the Operation Christmas Child efforts with an activity for the residents since many of them wanted to participate in helping children during the holidays.

“The associates and residents look forward every year to kicking off the holiday season by giving to others through Operation Christmas Child,” said Rebecca Young, business development director.

The group prepared about 20 boxes, and the facility has also been accepting donated boxes.
